With the correct date (as well automatically set by the phone as manually set at exactly the same time my computer shows), while trying to log in, I get the fault message that the phones' time and date are wrong. This made me experiment a bit with time and date settings (one day earlier/later, a month, a year...). With the date set back exactly a year, the fault message changed from the time and date one to "the service is currently unavailable, try again in a moment).

Does the end of support only mean there's no more OS software updates making it a less safe phone to use, or does this also mean that the phone's ability to log in into the Windows Live servers, which is needed almost for any functionality besides calling and texting, has been cancelled?

I'm not asking for Windows updates, I'm trying to understand the issue with logging in with the Live ID.

All it means is that you no longer get updates it certainly does not mean it is , not safe, to use anymore and you should still be able to use your Microsoft account have you tried to reset it? If not turn it on then press and hold the volume down and the power buttons until it vibrates then release them and it will restart failing that try a hard reset,go to the about setting and tap reset see if either of the 2 quick fixes help solve your problem rgds Roy

I've tried the reset (volume down and power button) several times, as well as just switching it off and on again. The problem started after doing a factory reset. I've tried to redo the factory reset a few times, but no change.

Retried both just now, but still I get the time and date error when trying to log in.

Just reset my phone (Lumia 710 running 7.8OS) due to "low storage" warning.

Now I can't login to windows live. And like Microsoft know, without Windows Live this phone is useless. Without the Marketplace I can do nothing.

You guys should try do something na.

Without the Marketplace I can do nothing.

The Marketplace has been discontinued for at least a year now, if not longer, so with or without a Live ID you still can do nothing. Support for WP7 ended in 2014, I would strongly recommend cutting your losses and moving on.
