Birmingham half dozen-death crash 'ruined every Christmas'

The family of a woman killed in a crash along with five others just before Christmas last twelvemonth say they cannot imagine jubilant e'er over again.

Lucy Davis and her boyfriend Lee Jenkins were killed along with their taxi commuter in a three-motorcar standoff at near 01:00 GMT on 17 December.

Three men in an Audi died when it was in collision with the couple's taxi on Belgrave Middleway in Birmingham.

Ms Davis' family said she lived life to the fullest and "made every day count".

Father-of-six Imtiaz Mohammed, 33, who was the couple'southward taxi driver, was as well killed in the crash.

Audi commuter Kasar Jehangir, 25, and his passengers Tauqeer Hussain, 26, and Mohammed Fahsha, thirty, died when the car ploughed sideways into the taxi coming the other style.

Mother-of-two, Ms Davis, 43, a sign language interpreter, and nuclear physicist Mr Jenkins, 42, were on their way abode from a Christmas nighttime out when they died.

Inquests held in May heard Mr Jehangir lost command of his Audi at 100mph and had cannabis in his arrangement.

Ms Davis' brother-in-police Tony Worth said the crash "ruins every Christmas that you're e'er going to have from now on".

"We always made a big deal of Christmas. You try and keep it as normal every bit possible for the children but it's the elephant in the room, it'southward just actually difficult," he added.

"Lucy ever used to practise New year as well, she was sort of a political party animal and nosotros're at a chip of a loss of what to do this yr."

In February, Mr Worth handed in a petition signed past over 28,000 people to Birmingham City Council enervating rubber measures exist put in place on the route.

On Friday, the council said average speed cameras had been installed along the ane.7 mile stretch to enforce the existing 40mph limit.

Mr Worth, from Coventry, said he was "frustrated" with how long it had taken.

"Why does it accept a year? It was known as a bad stretch of route before the crash and anybody in Birmingham knows information technology."

In a tribute letter to mark the showtime anniversary of Ms Davis' death, her sister Alison Worth said: "You were kind and caring and fun loving and I miss y'all every single day.

"Yous have ii amazing children who were your world and of whom you were so proud."

Mr Jenkins' family unit previously told the Birmingham Mail he was a "clinical scientist by day and rock and roll star by night".

Soon after his son's death, Mr Mohammed's male parent Ihktiar said the "very close" family unit were devastated.

In a tribute released afterward his death, Mr Hussain's family described him as "a warm, happy and loving individual who was loved by and then many".

Mr Fahsha's brother said he was "a kind, gentle and most chiefly a family human being."
